Gresh: I love me some NASCAR

-- I love me some racing. I can thank my wife for that. And over the years I have encountered many people who make fun of ‘left turn’ racing. I can list a myriad of reasons as to why you should watch NASCAR. But if you’re one of those ‘left turners’ catch the races this weekend at the Circuit of The America’s in Austin, Texas. 20 turns and each corner is designed to resemble sections of famous tracks around the world. For golfers, it’s like playing a replica course. It will show the drivers true skills and is something very different for racing fans.

--The NHL on NBC’s Patrick Sharp is really good.

--It’s amazing to me how loud arenas and stadiums sound when just 1/4 full.

--I don’t think the horse racing industry should be mad at Bob Baffert, they should be mad that their sports has fallen so far that few care about what Bob Baffert actually did.

--The SEC distributed each member school, an extra $23 million dollars in payouts for Covid-19 Virus related losses. For those with poor math skills that’s $322 million dollars in total. It’s being fronted by the conference off future tv revenues. Football truly is king.

--And the NCAA will also tell us how there isn’t enough money to go around.

--Congratulations to ‘Gresh & Keefe’ producer Chris Scheim on becoming a homeowner. Now that he has plenty of space for twitch hot tub antics, twitch is shutting down some making cash for hot tub antics. There’s always Only Fans.

--Good luck to Leominster’s Rob Font, who will main event UFC’s Fight Night this Saturday night against Cody Garbrandt. If the bantamweight beats Garbrandt, the #7 ranked contender should easily move into the top 5 and a step away from a title fight.

--The Bruins need to find a way to keep Taylor Hall this offseason. His postseason play so far is helping his case.

--Shohei Otahni is now the betting favorite to win the AL MVP now that Mike Trout is out for 6-8 weeks.

--Tony LaRussa is an idiot. That’s it.

--For those who listen to ‘Gresh & Keefe’, yes. I am that picky an eater. A FORMER FAT FACT: Last week it was about pasta. This week, pie. Yick. The only pie I like is Chocolate pudding pie. Apple, Pumpkin, Rhubarb, Blueberry, Huckleberry, Raspberry, Peach. I’m out on em all.

--I have perspective and know that pro wrestling is entertainment. But damn WWE, zombies as lumberjacks in a match between the Miz and Damien Priest. C’mon now.

--I asked the question this week on twitter. If I jumped out of my truck while in gridlock on the Mass. Pike to run in the woods for an urgent pee, would I be shunned by society.

--Lou Merloni is elite when calling Red Sox games. If you listen, you’ll learn something everytime.

--Thanks to Rob Bradford for allowing me to spew my B.S. each week.

Gresh is co-host of ‘Gresh & Keefe’ 10a-2p, Monday-Friday on the WEEI Sportsradio Network. He is also co-author of ‘The Great Book of Boston Sports Lists’
