As the NFL preseason begins in earnest tonight, I admit that having the games taken away last year has me excited for this season’s dress rehearsals. I know, you just rolled your eyes, but having the preseasons taken away last year makes me WANT them this year. In terms of Mac Jones and Cam Newton, I would look for three things:
1) What offensive lineman are playing with each QB?
2) What plays are each trusted to run on third down?
3) Is there any showcase of Newton's running abilities?
Two more things to keep and eye on.
1) Who plays opposite J.C. Jackson with Stephon Gilmore out?
2) Will Quinn Nordin have a chance to beat out Nick Folk for the kicking job?
--The Red Sox have hit a slump in the month of August and now fans are panicking. I know this year may feel like a missed opportunity, but if Red Sox CBO Chaim Bloom spends cash this coming offseason and fills the holes on this team, we will look back on this year as a success because he resisted splurging on a short-term answer for little gain.
--My family has club seat to the Patriots games. We’ve openly discussed how much money we could get for our four seats plus two parking passes for the Tampa game. I say 20k. Club seats BTW.
--The signing of Dennis Schroeder will be the one that saves the Celtics offseason and season.
--Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. is the AEW women’s champion and is quickly becoming my favorite wrestler.
--My oldest is off to the University of Alabama and as of last week, his housing was still up in the air, but he already got his student pass to go to all the football games.
--Other than Simone Biles, will you remember anything about the Tokyo Olympics other than there were no fans because of Covid?
--Some random NFL thoughts
1) What the hell is New Orleans Coach Sean Payton doing? He think he can win with either of Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill at QB.
2) The DeShawn Watson situation in Houston will get worse in the next few weeks. The NFL has to do SOMETHING.
3) I don’t understand people who say that the Denver Broncos have a great roster minus the QB.
--For those who listen to ‘Gresh & Keefe’, yes. I am that picky an eater. FORMER FAT GUY NOTE: I am considering purchasing an air fryer.
--Me, Head Coach Walt Bell, and A.D. Ryan Bamford may be the three most excited people for UMass football to start. (BTW I will be the color analyst again for the games on NESN)
--Thanks to Rob Bradford for allowing me to spew my B.S. each week.
