The Boston College football team is leaving an impression on the local sports scene. Proof? The reaction from Celtics' coach Brad Stevens after the Eagles' Saturday night loss to Notre Dame.

"At the end of the day, I'm proud of this team," said BC coach Jeff Hafley in his Sunday morning Zoom call with the local media. "I appreciate the support. I got texts last night from guys like Matt Ryan and Doug Flutie. Again, just so supportive and excited about the future. I even got a text from Brad Stevens just telling me he loves the fight of the team and loves what we're doing. That one kind of surprised me, but little things like that mean a lot and shows what the city of Boston is seeing."

Hafley added, "I got to one Celtics game before COVID and I was fired up to get to a Red Sox game and a Bruins game. I love sports. And obviously we can't get to Patriots games right now because we're working Sundays, but maybe after the season if things open up. It's great to be in such a great sports town and have such awesome coaches around. Like I said, it meant a lot Brad Stevens shot me that text last night. He's definitely a guy I'm looking forward to get together with."

After its 45-31 loss to the No. 2-ranked Fighting Irish the Eagles sit at 5-4, with one-score defeats to nationally-ranked Clemson and North Carolina.
