Katie Nolan is out at ESPN

Katie Nolan's ride at ESPN is over. The Framingham native announced Thursday she no longer works at the WorldWide Leader, and is now weighing what to do next.

"I've thought about sending this tweet for weeks and I still have no clue how to make it not make you all roll your eyes. Alas: the obvious thing has happened. I no longer work at ESPN," she tweeted. "I'm really grateful for my time here. I made incredible friendships and valuable mistakes."

Nolan joined ESPN in 2017 following a multi-year stint at Fox Sports, where she hosted the critically acclaimed, though lowly viewed "Garbage Time." She won an Emmy for her work on the show in 2016.

Prior to Nolan's career in sports media, she famously worked as a bartender at Allston's White Horse Tavern (a well-known BU and BC hangout) before she started blogging and hosting a YouTube show. Her commentary on the treatment of women in sports, including a viral takedown of Greg Hardy and the NFL's whitewashing of domestic violence, propelled her into the mainstream.

As Nolan referenced, the end of her stint at ESPN isn't a surprise. Her digital show, "Always Late with Katie Nolan," was canceled earlier this year. The producer of her podcast, "Sports? with Katie Nolan," was laid off in 2020.

"To the most beleaguered podcast fans in the game: Thank you, for all of it," she wrote. "Seeing you be decent and hilarious with each other online is the best evidence I have that I'm on a path worth walking. You rule. If you're still here when I get back, I won't forget that."
