The Patriots signed a number of players this offseason, including $163 million in guaranteed money.
It's hard to predict how free agents will work out and adapt to the culture, but it feels like it could not have worked out any better for the Patriots.
Hunter Henry and Matthew Judon were two of the biggest players added and both raved about their first season in New England when speaking to reporters this week.
“It’s been a fun season,” Henry said in a video conference Wednesday. “Obviously, there was a lot of new things going on — new area, new team, new culture. I felt like I meshed in well with it. I’ve really enjoyed being here. I’ve really enjoyed the season, too, and everything that’s come with it. The good, the bad, learning.
“I feel like I’ve become a better football player — overall, scheme, everything. It’s been a pleasure, and I’ve really enjoyed this season more than I probably have almost any other season that I’ve had. It’s been a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to keep going and excited for this week ahead.”
Judon said this year and 2019 with the Ravens, when they won 12 straight games, are the most fun he's had in the league.
“I’ve enjoyed it," he said. "I’ve really enjoyed it here. I don’t know - it’s between this year and [2019 with the Ravens]. … Right now, this season is incredible. It’s had its ups and downs personally. Individually, I’ve been having a very good season, my best season since I have been in the NFL. But, as a team, we went to war, we went to battle and we lost some tough games, but we’ve won some tougher games. I am having a lot of fun right now.”
The Patriots still have a chance to clinch the AFC East this weekend with a win in Miami and a Buffalo loss to the Jets.
