Nine weeks of 2023 NFL action are in the books and clear statistical trends have taken hold across the league. As such, WEEI.com will check in each week through the remainder of the season to see how the Patriots (2-7) are doing statistically in a variety of areas, both on a team level and as individuals.

Pats’ stats analysis: There aren’t a lot of areas where the Patriots are putting up impressive numbers these days, but interestingly one of those is in the red zone on both sides of the ball. New England is currently ranked 4th in the NFL in red zone offense and 5th in red zone defense. Of course in terms of offense, only Pittsburgh (15) has fewer red zone trips than New England (18). … Mac Jones continues to throw the ball a lot, ranking 9th in the NFL in attempts and 10th in completions, even if he’s near the bottom of the league in interceptions (tied for 29th) and passer rating (27th). … Even with his career-long 64-yard touchdown in the loss to Washington, Rhamondre Stevenson is averaging just 3.7 yards per carry this season to rank 33rd in the league.
