Defensive tackle Beau Allen was one of the Patriots' free agent additions this offseason, but yet he hasn't done anything to this point in the 2020 season, even over the summer.
Allen did not participate in any training camp sessions and has started the year on injured reserve.
He's a bit of a man of mystery, but according to defensive captain Lawrence Guy, he's been a big help to the Patriots' defensive line.
“Beau Allen’s been a big part of our defensive line room, helping out everyone to the best of his ability, staying real focused in meetings,” he said Thursday. “We can learn from everybody. He’s been in the league for a long enough time to have good feedback, good teaching techniques. He’s just doing the best he can to get healthy, to get back on the field and do his best to help out us in the room, watching film, telling us what he sees. We value everybody’s opinion in our D-line room. He’s one of them that what he sees is going to be helpful on Sunday.”
Allen spent the first four years of his career with the Eagles and then the last two in Tampa Bay.
Once he's able to return, he will give the team some much needed depth up front.
