Bill Belichick on OMF doesn't buy into playing best after Thanksgiving saying

For years, there's been a saying with the Patriots that the goal is to play their best football after Thanksgiving.

Now that the team has won four out of its last five games, Bill Belichick was asked about it on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria Monday, and he downplayed it, saying the team prepares the same for every game.

“Again, we try and prepare for every game and try to prepare well for every game," he said. "I think if you look at our record in the early part of the season, it’s probably not too bad. There are other organizations that would take it. But, we try and play well every week. After Labor Day, before Halloween, after Halloween, before Christmas — we always try and play good. I don’t really put a lot of significance into a certain holiday relating to our football team."

With that being said, with four games remaining and the team having a 6-6 record, Belichick knows every game the rest of the way is very important.

"Look, we have four games left so obviously they are four important games," he said. "Not the other ones weren’t, but when you don’t have many games left they all just carry more importance.”
