Ken & Curtis: Gary Myers is on the belief that Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick are done with each other
After reports from both NBC Sports Boston and ESPN surfaced this week saying that Bill Belichick's job status with the Patriots is in jeopardy, some cold water was poured on that idea early Saturday evening.
The fate of Bill Belichick as head coach of the New England Patriots has not yet been decided," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. "While the expectation is that a decision on his future will play out over the next month, sources also say it could take longer than that."
“Sources say not only has owner Robert Kraft not come to a firm conclusion on what will happen next with his head-coaching situation," he continued. "But the way New England finishes could go a long way in determining what's next."
To the contrary, NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran said on Arbella Early Edition this week that, "when [the Patriots] came out of Germany, it [was made] very clear that a decision was made, and they were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year there would be a parting of the ways."
Additionally, ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote on Wednesday that, "whether it's team owner Robert Kraft's decision to move on, Belichick's decision to step away, or a mutual decision between the two parties, there is a growing belief around the NFL that someone besides Belichick will be coaching the team in 2024."
Belichick himself, of course, couldn't care less about the rumors. "I'm getting ready for Kansas City," he told reporters on Wednesday when asked about his job status.
The Patriots will take on the Chiefs on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
