Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase suspended for Sunday's game vs. Patriots

Receiver won’t play against the Patriots, but back to face the Ravens

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Right after the game Ja’Marr Chase said he didn’t spit on anybody. With indisputable video proof that he did, that lie, and that action, will cost him a game. The NFL has suspended the Bengals' star receiver for one game, meaning he will miss Sunday's game against the Patriots unless he wins his appeal.

The play happened early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Chase and Steelers safety Jalen Ramsey were going after each other for a second straight play. As the altercation continued to heat up, Chase spit on Ramsey. That’s when the Steelers safety threw a punch at Chase and was ejected from the game.

After a career-high 16 receptions in the first matchup against the Steelers, Chase was held to three receptions for 30 yards on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Chase is leading the NFL with 79 catches this season, to go with 861 yards and five touchdowns. The Bengals host the AFC East-leading Patriots Sunday at 1 p.m. Chase will be cleared to return for a Thanksgiving game at Baltimore.
