The Patriots finished the 2020 season 7-9, their worst record since 2000 and it seems they want to put that in the past.
Speaking to reporters following Thursday's OTA session, linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley indicated the team has moved on and is focused on the upcoming season.
“We can pretty much throw [2020] away,” he said. “We had no fans. We didn’t have much. A lot of learning experience throughout the way. Not just in football, just in general. We learned a lot last year. So here’s looking to build from that and just try to build into this season and see what we got right now. That’s me personally and us as a whole.”
With Dont'a Hightower opting out of last year, Bentley got a ton of experience, but he knows that doesn't mean much for this year.
“I cut off last year at last year,” he said. “I’m here. I’m here now. I’m not worried about last year. We’re in the moment. We’re focused on what we got.”
Bentley and his teammates will return to the field next week for three more OTAs.
