FOXBOROUGH -- Bill Belichick spoke to the media for the first time since the team released a statement saying Cam Newton would miss the next few days due to a COVID testing "misunderstanding."
The coach said he did not have anything more to say on it.
“I don’t have anything to add to the statement. It is what it is," Belichick said.
Belichick was asked if this is a big week for Mac Jones, as his reps will likely increase with Newton out.
"It is," he responded.
Belichick did say he expects Newton to return Thursday, which is when he's allowed back in the building according to NFL COVID protocols.
The Giants are in town for joint sessions Wednesday and Thursday before Sunday's game in New Jersey.
