Bill Belichick has unequivocally answered the question on everybody’s minds this Patriots training camp: He’s not married.
Belichick has been spotted with a new ring this summer, leading many to question whether he clandestinely got hitched to longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday, whom he’s been dating since 2007. Holliday is a regular presence at Patriots games, even sporting a crystal Patriots hoodie with “BELICHICK” across the back.
On “The Greg Hill Show” Monday, Belichick put those rumors to rest when asked whether congratulations were in order.
“No need to do that,” he said. “It’s just a ring to try and get me in better shape.”
The story checks out, because if you look closely at Belichick’s black ring and matching wrist band, it, well, isn’t all that glittery or celebratory. In actuality, the item is some sort of “smart-ring” used to track fitness and sleep activity.
In other words, it will help ensure that Belichick sticks to his own mantra about his personal fitness and health: No days off.
