Bill Belichick delivers good news about two key Patriots ahead of season opener

The Patriots have a chance to be whole -- well, as much as they can be -- against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1, according to Bill Belichick.

First, Belichick told WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show" Tuesday morning that everyone on the team "should have a shot" to play Sunday aside from rookie receiver Tyquan Thornton, who is on injured reserve (clavicle) and isn't eligible to play until at least Week 5.

When asked later by reporters if that comment meant offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn and Ty Montgomery, who have both missed practice with injuries of late, would travel with the team, the coach gave a short but encouraging answer: "It does."

Wynn, who is currently penciled in as the Patriots' starting right tackle, has been dealing with an undisclosed injury and missed last Thursday's practice.

Montgomery, meanwhile, went down with an ankle injury after a carry in Preseason Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders and hasn't seen the field since. To this point, though, he has avoided landing on IR, suggesting he might be closer to a return than originally feared.

Given that both players are at positions without great depth behind them, getting them back in relatively short order -- perhaps even this weekend -- would be a massive boost for the Patriots.
