Before talking about his team and Sunday's game against the Broncos, Bill Belichick opened his Thursday video conference by wishing good friend Nick Saban well following the Alabama coach testing positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.
“Just want to wish him a speedy and complete recovery from this COVID virus,” he said. "I spoke with Coach Saban recently, we both talked about how much we’ve learned about this situation and some of the challenges that have come with it.
"I know he’s been extremely vigilant and has put a great deal of thought and effort into the care of his team and players. He shared that with me, and we both talked about things that we’ve done and have been helpful and so forth. So I just want to wish him the best from all of us here in the organization.”
Saban said Wednesday night he's asymptomatic.
Obviously, the Patriots have dealt with the coronavirus themselves with four players going on the COVID list and their game against the Broncos last week being rescheduled for this week.
The team did get good news Wednesday with Cam Newton being taken off the COVID list and is reportedly expected to return to practice Thursday.
