Despite not having two of their top pass catchers against the Commanders on Sunday in DeVante Parker and Kenrick Bourne, rookie pass catcher Kayshon Boutte was a healthy scratch for the Patriots. Bill Belichick was asked about that decision to not dress him following their 20-17 loss:

"We activated the players that we felt like were the best players to put in the game," he murmured.

Belichick told the media on Friday that the last few days had been the rookie's best week of practice. Why did he say that? "Because it was. I thought he had a good week of practice. That's why I said that."

So why didn't he play?

"We activated the other four receivers. And Mike [Gesicki]. I mean really Mike's our fifth receiver."

On the day, New England's top receivers were rookie Demario Douglas (5 rec. for 55 yards) an JuJu Smith-Schuster (6 rec. for 51 yards). It hasn't been great at all from the room as a whole this season, and it makes you wonder when Boutte will ultimately get another chance at game action.
