After his release from the Jets, running back Le'Veon Bell is a free agent and naturally people speculating that the Patriots could be interested.
Speaking via video conference Thursday morning, Bill Belichick was asked about Bell, but he passed on the question.
"I wouldn't be really able to talk about anybody that's not a member of our team now," he said. "So I'll have to pass on that one. Whatever I've said about Bell on the record before, I stand by that."
Belichick has raved about Bell in the past, including interrupting a reporter's question in 2016 on him and said, "Oh my God."
The Patriots coach did express confidence in his running backs group.
“I think they do have different skills and there are many talented players in that group," Belichick said. "What other people think in terms of defending that, I think you’d have to ask them. I like the depth and quality that we have at that position.”
It's possible that it could happen, but at this point it seems unlikely the Patriots would make a run at Bell.
