Although the Patriots did not play Sunday, they got some help from the rest of the league following their win over Atlanta Thursday night.
Indianapolis went into Buffalo and blew out the Bills, 41-15, which means the Patriots are now in first place in the AFC East at 7-4.
After going 7-9 last year, Bill Belichick was asked on The Greg Hill Show Monday morning if being in first place has any special meaning?
"No, I don't really think about that," he said. "We'll just take it one day at a time here and get ready for Tennessee."
New England currently sits in third place in the conference, trailing the Titans and Ravens. The Patriots will host the 8-3 Titans Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
This week is also one of Belichick's favorite holidays, Thanksgiving. The coach was asked about a side dish that he needs on the table.
"Oh boy. It would be hard for me to turn down any type of potatoesp," he said. "I'll go with whatever -- mashed potatoes, scalloped, baked ... Load 'em up. Throw some butter on there. Starch me up."
