Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes will meet in Super Bowl LV, and while both are destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the most obvious difference between the two is their age gap.

Brady, whose longevity is unparalleled across the sporting world, is 43 and was born in August of 1977. Mahomes is 25, and was born in September of 1995. As Matthew Stucko of YES Network pointed out, Brady was an MLB Draft pick the same year Mahomes was born, being selected by the Montreal Expos in the 18th round. Ultimately, Brady didn't sign, choosing to pursue his football career by attending Michigan, rather than a baseball catching career.

Mahomes, of course, has a background in baseball as well. His father, Pat, spent parts of 11 seasons as a major league pitcher. Considering the elder Mahomes spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons with the New York Mets, it's entirely possible that he could have faced Brady, had he signed with the division-rival Expos in the mid-1990s.

Brady's decision to play football instead of baseball has worked out alright. He's now preparing for his 10th Super Bowl, with the six-time Super Bowl Champion hoping to win his first as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs stand in the way, and are the early betting favorites to win the game. The duo will enter their matchup on Feb. 7 with a 2-2 career head-to-head record. While Mahomes and the Chiefs defeated Brady's Buccaneers in late November, Brady owns the biggest career victory in their brief series, having led the New England Patriots to an overtime victory over the Chiefs in the 2018 AFC Championship Game.
