With most eyes in New England on the Patriots’ first-round pick in April, there was some local draft news recently, as reports came out that Bridgewater State University quarterback James Cahoon met with the Green Bay Packers. Jon Lyons and Mike Kadlick touched on that meeting during a segment on WEEI (listen below starting at the 35:38 mark).

“Former Bridgewater State University quarterback James Cahoon had a meeting with the Green Bay Packers a couple weeks ago. I coached him at BSU,” Lyons said. “Great guy, great quarterback who I actually think could hang at the NFL level, and I’ve only said that about three guys total in my coaching career.”

“I’m a Worcester State guy, but I’m rooting for James,” added Kadlick.

Lyons, who coached at BSU for eight seasons, coached Cahoon during his entire collegiate career.
