Fitzy & Hart react to Patriots' loss to Dolphins
A Patriots linebacker best known for throwing up on the field in the preseason finale will now be showing up somewhere else to play.
Linebacker Ronnie Perkins, a third-round selection by the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft out of the University of Oklahoma, was signed off the New England practice squad Monday by the Denver Broncos. This means Perkins will become a part of the Broncos’ active 53-man roster.
Perkins never registered a play with the Patriots in his two-plus seasons, spending parts of the 2021 and 2022 campaigns on injured reserve. He was released before the season, though flashing in the final preseason tilt versus the Titans, then signed back to the practice squad on Aug. 30. Now he’ll get a chance to see the field on Sundays, with the possibility of a reunion vs. the Pats on Christmas Eve in Denver.
Perkins arrived with potential in hopes of perhaps panning out like Josh Uche, generating pass rush and being part of the new Pats defense. It never came to be, but at least he gave us this.
