Cam Newton has appeared on the Patriots injury report the last two weeks with an abdominal injury.
And it is a legitimate injury, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
“I am told that in fact he has been struggling with that abdominal injury," he said on the FOX pregame show Thursday before the game against the Rams. "It’s caused him an awful lot of pain for the last couple of weeks here, but because they have the short week they forced him to rest, and as of a result of that today he felt better than he has the last few weeks.”
Newton hasn't thrown for more than 84 yards in each of the last two games (84 vs. Arizona and 69 vs. Los Angeles).
The Patriots won both those games and have won four of their last five overall.
