Cam Newton has played in four games as a member of the Patriots and according to the QB himself, he hasn't been all that impressive.
While he put up great passing numbers in the Week 2 loss to the Seahawks (just under 400 yards), in his two games since he has thrown for 157 yards and 162 yards respectively.
“I just haven’t been — I just haven’t been good," Newton said via video conference Thursday. "I haven’t matched enough good plays together for my liking and that is what it comes down to. When I mean good plays, I mean right reads, I mean ball positioning, I mean making guys miss, just the whole gamut of how I play. I know what I am capable of and my standard is extremely high and I haven’t been meeting it — my personal standard. That’s how I feel.”
What can he attribute all that to? He couldn't really say.
“The only thing I can do are the things that I can control," Newton said. "That’s have a great week of practice and have it carry over to the game.”
Newton has been successful on the ground, as in the four games he has 225 yards rushing.
The Patriots, who sit at 2-3, have a big game coming up this Sunday at Gillette Stadium as they cannot afford to fall even further in the standings.
