Mac Jones has been compared to Tom Brady even before the Patriots selected him No. 15 overall in the NFL Draft.

But, maybe the comparisons weren't all that exaggerated, as former Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis joined The Greg Hill Show, with Rob Bradford in for Greg Hill, Thursday morning and he said the similarities are "unbelievable."

“The two most important things are do you have the it factor and are you accurate? And he has the it factor and he’s accurate," Weis said. "Now, just like Tommy, Tommy as we know was not the most athletic person in the world, but what did he have? He had that feel in the pocket. He knew how to move in the pocket. He knew how to step up. He knew how to shuffle. He knew when to go down — there are times you’re just going to get hit and you have to go down. That’s what this kid is. That’s who this kid is.

"I think it would be premature to start building his bus for Canton at this time. He hasn’t played a down. But, the similarities are unbelievable.”

Weis admitted he was surprised with the Patriots going with the rookie over Cam Newton.

“I am surprised that they did this, but it is a hell of a call," he said. "It’s a gutsy call, but I think it is a good call.”

Some believe Jones will have tremendous pressure this season as a rookie, but according to Weis, there isn't any pressure at all.

“I don’t think he feels pressure at all," he said. "If you saw him down at Alabama, all those pro players he was playing with, everyone came to him. He was the man. So you think about all those receivers, those front-line receivers, front-line running backs, front-line offensive linemen, front-line tight ends — he was the man. Here’s a guy running scout team busting the head coach’s chops in practice. … This guy has something to him now. He’s got that something ‘it,’ that ‘it’ factor that we talk about, he’s got it.

"He’s not feeling the pressure. You guys talk about pressure, he’s just trying to fit in right now doing everything he can to help the team win. That’s all he’s worried about. The only pressure he had, he just eliminated. He’s it. He’s the guy.”

Jones will make his first NFL start Sept. 12 against Miami.
