As it stands now, the Patriots will return to the Gillette Stadium facility on Wednesday for practice as they continue their preparations for the Broncos on Sunday.
But, will Cam Newton and/or Stephon Gilmore be there?
Newton is eligible as he's gone 10 days since his positive test and it's been reported he hasn't shown any symptoms. If all that is true, he's able to return with clearance from a doctor. As for Gilmore, on Monday he posted to Instagram that he's "ready to be back in action."
Speaking on a video conference Tuesday morning, Bill Belichick was asked if these players will take steps in order to get cleared to return?
“Yeah, I’m not exactly sure what the schedule is in terms of when those guys [Newton and Gilmore] will do the things they need to do,” he said “Again, some of that’s has to be scheduled outside of the building and so forth. So I’ll leave that to the medical department. I don’t know exactly what their schedule is.”
Belichick hasn't given much information when it comes to specifics on players who have tested positive, so his answer wasn't all that surprising. But, given the circumstances, we wouldn't be surprised to see or of/both players return to the practice field this week and that could come as soon as Wednesday.
