Bill Belichick has said multiple times since Cam Newton was pulled in the fourth quarter against the Rams in favor of Jarrett Stidham he is still the team's quarterback.
But, with the Patriots being 6-7 on the year and not having much of a shot at the postseason, could the team potentially play both quarterbacks?
“That’s not where we are right now. We’re not there right now," Bill Belichick said Monday on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria.
Well, could the team at some point?
“It’s a hypothetical question. I have no idea," Belichick said.
There was some confusion as to why Stidham came in during the fourth quarter and whether it was because he gave the team the best chance to come from behind, or was it just because the game was out of reach?
“You know, we wanted to give him an opportunity to play, so we did," Belichick said. "... “Like I said, we gave him an opportunity to play. Cam was taking some hits. Just a combination of things, thought it was the right time to put him in there.”
The Patriots will take on the Dolphins Sunday in Miami.
