Dan Marino really does not want Bill Belichick to beat Don Shula's all-time wins record

Nobody knows how much longer Bill Belichick will continue to coach in the NFL, but there is a slight chance the New England Patriots head coach could stick around long enough to surpass Don Shula as the all-time wins leader in NFL history.

Belichick currently sits in third place with 280 career wins but still has quite a long way to go to catch George Halas in second place at 318 and Shula for first place with 328.

It would likely require five more seasons of at least 10 wins to become the all-time winningest head coach.

But not everyone wants to see Belichick reach that mark, particularly former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, who played under Shula for a majority of his Hall of Fame career.

“I hope he don’t get it,” Marino said in a recent interview with ESPN. “That’s my answer. I’m a Dolphin for life. Coach Shula for life. I don’t want [Belichick] to get it.”

It is still a long ways off, but depending on how Belichick’s retooling of the team goes this season, perhaps he may just stick around to try and get it.
