Details of David Andrews' contract with Patriots show he took hometown discount

When David Andrews reportedly agreed to sign with the Patriots late Thursday, the thought was he took less than he would have received from other teams.

And now after seeing details of his contract, that is absolutely true.

According to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, it is for four years worth a maximum of $19 million, plus $2 million in incentives. The first two years worth $6.5 million are fully guaranteed. He can make up to $8 million if he plays in all 32 games and then $10 million if he reaches incentives.

This is much less than what he likely could have received elsewhere, especially considering Ted Karras reportedly got $4 million in his one-year deal with the Patriots. Also, Chase Roullier got a four-year, $40.5 million deal from Washington earlier this offseason, and he isn't that much better than Andrews.

Clearly, Andrews has enjoyed his time with the Patriots and that was proven with the deal he took.
