Deatrich Wise gives scouting report on Hunter Henry: His hands are ‘magnetic to leather'

Hunter Henry is new to the Patriots, but he isn't new to Patriots defensive end Deatrich Wise, as the two were teammates at the University of Arkansas.

Speaking via video conference Thursday, Wise said he considers Henry a "good friend" and gave a scouting report on one of the Patriots' newest pass-catchers.

“Hunter is that dude,” Wise said. “He’s phenomenal off the field. Humble personality. Makes bonds with people that he talks to. Real down to earth. Real cool. On the field, he turns into this guy that becomes unblockable, catches everything. I think his hands somehow are magnetic to leather. Everything in his area, he’s going to catch it.

“He’s a hard-working guy. Loves to learn and loves to have a good time. I’m very, very excited to have him on the team.”

Henry signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the team this offseason and has already begun working with his new teammates. He was part of the private workouts in California and has been at Gillette Stadium for the start of the voluntary offseason workout program.

He and new tight end Jonnu Smith figure to be major pieces to the Patriots' passing offense this season.
