6 rings and football thingS: a look at kadlick's patriots mock draft 1.0
It sounds like the Patriots will have a new man in charge of their strength and conditioning program heading into the 2024 season.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, "it won't be a surprise" if head coach Jerod Mayo's brother, Deron, becomes the team's head strength and conditioning coach.
Mayo, 35, has spent the last six seasons as an assistant on New England's strength staff. He played college football at Old Dominion and, after a short stint with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2011, played six seasons in the Canadien Football League with the Calgary Stampeders.
"As the season starts to roll," Jerod Mayo said at his introductory press conference as Patriots head coach, "...we start in the weight room. I think the weight room is one of the most important areas in the building to really evaluate the people you have on your team."
Reiss also reported that Moses Cabrera (New England's head strength coach for the past eight seasons) is not expected to return, and noted that the team plans to announce their full coaching staff early this week.
