The Patriots had a few things working against them this past season in which they went 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
One of those things was that the team had a league-high eight players opt-out, including Dont'a Hightower, Patrick Chung and Marcus Cannon.
Joining Tom E. Curran on NBC Sports' Patriots Talk Podcast Friday, Devin McCourty believes these players will be back in 2021.
“From my understanding, they’ll all be back,” he said. “B. Bolden, High, Chung. So I can’t wait. Those are my guys – (Marcus) Cannon. I just can’t wait to be back around those guys. Even outside of football, seeing them every day, seeing their nice faces.”
This would be great news for the Patriots, especially on defense.
Besides those players, tight end Matt LaCosse, fullback Dan Vitale, wide receiver Marqise Lee and guard Najee Toran also opted out.
