While there's been speculation surrounding Devin McCourty, 33, and retirement each of the last few offseasons, it appears the safety will be still playing in 2021.
“I think it’s always tough when you get down to the end of the year to start talking about the future, but for right now I’m still enjoying football. I plan on playing next year,” McCourty said Thursday on The Greg Hill Show with Jon Meterparel and Steve DeOssie filling in. “Just trying to finish out these two games the best way I can. Then when the offseason hits, evaluate and doing all of that stuff. But still feel pretty healthy and love going out there and competing.”
Devin and his twin brother Jason has plenty of experience working with the media, including co-hosting their own podcast -- Double Coverage.
So, when he does indeed retire, will he go into the media?
“I don’t know about that. I think I might want to relax for a little," he said. "But doing the podcast is fun. Me and J-Mac have fun with it and really enjoy getting to do stuff together. So we’ll see how that all works out when it’s all said and done.”
McCourty signed a two-year deal last offseason, so he has one year remaining on his contract.
