The greg hill show: bill belichick joins the show following patriots' 26-23 win over broncos on christmas eve

Spirits are high in New England this week after the Patriots got themselves back in the win column with a 26-23 victory over the Broncos on Christmas Eve.

Not only does the team look like they have a starting quarterback, at least through the end of this season, in Bailey Zappe, but after winning two of their last four games, and despite all of the rumors and reports to the contrary, some are beginning to wonder if Bill Belichick has earned the right to continue coaching this football team.

In a similar (but also not so similar) situation taking place in New York, the Jets are in the midst of their third consecutive losing season and yet team owner Woody Johnson has publicly endorsed head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas as their brass for 2024.

Something Robert Kraft has yet to do for Bill Belichick in New England.

A decision that WEEI’s Chris Curtis described as “defeaning”, the Patriots head coach was asked on Tuesday’s edition of The Greg Hill Show, about Kraft not publicly supporting him for next season, and if he’s gotten any indication from the team privately that he’ll continue on in 2024:

"I don't really know anything about the Jets situation,” Belichick told the show. “I don't know anything about that, so. [Going] to get ready for Buffalo here. Go back over the Denver game, make some corrections on that and talk about things we could have done better, things we need to build on, and then move on to Buffalo. That's what I'm doing."

He was then asked if he has any desire for Kraft to publicly endorse him for next season:

"Yeah, my job is to get the team ready to play every week that's what I do, so. That's what I'm going to keep doing. That's what I've always done."

Belichick also spoke about Bailey Zappe’s performance on Sunday, Christian Barmore's resurgence as an All-Pro candidate, and more on Tuesday’s edition of WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show. You can listen to the full interview here.
