After an uncharacteristically aggressive free agency period as well as a universally lauded draft to improve their roster dramatically, expectations for the 2021 Patriots have increased significantly -- both on the local and national level.
Well, except maybe in Las Vegas.
According to the Westgate Superbook, the Patriots have opened as favorites in only seven of their 17 contests for the 2021 season. They are underdogs in nine of the games, and a pick ‘em in one (the pick ‘em being Week 9 on the road against Carolina). It's pretty interesting considering their over/under win total sits at nine games. For those wondering some of the most interesting odds, they are underdogs in the Brady game (+3.5) and their biggest point spread disparity comes Week 13 on the road at Buffalo (-7). There’s plenty of time for things to change on rosters, under center and more, but fascinating to get an early inside look at where the oddsmakers think the money best be wagered.
Interesting nugget - their odds of winning Super Bowl 56 (LVI for all you Boston area TV fans) sit currently at only 30/1 or +3000. And the team with the best current NFC odds? You guessed it -- Tampa Bay. Imagine if the October 3 showdown were a preview of the title game? Safe to say odds are excitement and ratings would reach an all-time high here and everywhere.
