On Monday, former Patriots defensive end Jake Bequette announce he's running for United States Senate.

Bequette was selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2012 draft, but never really amounted to anything in the NFL, playing in just eight career games and trying to make it towards the end of his career by switching to tight end.

In 2015, Bequette joined the United States Army and graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School. He was then deployed to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division.

And now, he's trying to make it to Washington.

"I'm Jake Bequette. I'm a Razorback, a Patriot, and a veteran. And I am running for U.S. Senate because it's time to win our country back," he said in a video.
