Chris Hogan is returning to Boston, just not to play football.

The former Patriots wide receiver has been acquired off waivers by the Cannons Lacrosse Club of the PLL.

Hogan went undrafted in the three-round Premier Lacrosse League Entry Draft last week.

The 32-year-old, who began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent after playing one season of college football (he did so at FCS Monmouth University), hasn’t played lacrosse competitively since his senior year at Penn State in 2009. The two-time Super Bowl champ led the Nittany Lions with 29 goals that year while also serving as team captain.

Since departing the Patriots after the 2018 season, Hogan has only played in 12 NFL games, which likely played a role in him going back to lacrosse.
