Rob Gronkowski discusses interest from other teams, returning to Tampa Bay

On Monday, Rob Gronkowski's new deal with the Buccaneers became official.

It's reportedly a one-year deal with a base salary of $8 million and up to $2 million available in incentives.

While Gronkowski will stay in Tampa Bay, it doesn't mean there wasn't interest from other teams, including the Bills.

"There were a couple of other teams also," he said to reporters Monday. "But overall I wanted to be back with the Buccaneers organization. The setup here is unbelievable."

After coming out of retirement, Gronkowski finished the 2020 season with 45 receptions for 623 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added two touchdowns in the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.

One of the biggest successes of the season for the tight end was staying healthy, as he played in all 16 games for the first time since 2011.

"It was a great feeling," Gronkowski said. "It was something I wanted to prove to myself that I could do. I can play a full season and a full postseason, and at a high level, too."

He added: "I feel like I could play another full season right now, if it started. I feel really good."

As for next year, Gronkowski believes the team can be even better.

"I definitely do think we can be better on the offensive side of the ball," he said. "With so many players coming back, another offseason under our belt, another training camp, a full season under our belt, that we can definitely continue where we left off."
