Mac Jones may not prescribe to the TB12 Method. But the young quarterback certainly seems to be taking his fitness seriously as he prepares for his second NFL season.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote in his notes column Sunday some people who have spent time around Jones in recent months “describe him as being on a mission -- from following a disciplined diet to focusing on full-body fundamentals that will help him get more pace on his throws when needed, arm-care maintenance, as well as strengthening bonds with teammates on and off the field.”

That’s all good news.

We saw video evidence of those strengthening bonds last week, when Kendrick Bourne shared videos to Instagram of Jones working out with several Patriots receivers, including the newly acquired DeVante Parker. The practice was held in the Tampa Bay Area, where Bourne attended high school.

Reiss adds that Jones organized a “handful” of throwing sessions in Massachusetts that included Bourne, Nelson Agholor and tight end Jonnu Smith.

With one season under his belt, it isn’t surprising that Jones is now adhering to a stricter training regimen. His teammates notice, too. In one of the aforementioned Instagram videos, Agholor commented “that boy Mac gettin’ lean, man.”

It’s all part of being an NFL QB.
