Cam Newton is back in the NFL and with a surprising team -- the Panthers, where he spent the first nine years of his career.
What's even more surprising is the contract he received.
According to multiple reports, it is a 1-year deal worth up to $10 million for the rest of year and includes $4.5 million fully guaranteed and a $1.5 million roster bonus.
This helps the Patriots because it frees up $1.5M of cap space, but not for this year, in 2022.
Why are the Patriots getting this in return? @PatsCap says Newton's $1.5 million salary with the Patriots had an offset.
Over The Cap currently has the Patriots with rough $26 million in cap space for 2022.
