Ian Rapoport: Patriots trading Stephon Gilmore 'doesn't sound feasible'

Will Stephon Gilmore be traded by Tuesday's deadline?

It's complicated, especially given he will not play in Sunday's Patriots-Bills game due to an ankle injury suffered in practice this week. But, the Patriots are 2-4 and could look to be sellers with Gilmore being one of their best assets.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the sense is the Patriots will not be sellers at the deadline and relating to Gilmore, it "simply doesn't sound feasible at this point, nor is it even clear that the Patriots would want to [trade him]."

Gilmore has one more year left on his contract, but according to reports there's a sense he will not play out the final year of his deal in New England. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year hasn't been the same player this year committing a number of penalties and is allowing more big plays than usual.

New England could always look to deal him next offseason prior to the draft.

Another player that comes up in potential trade deals is Joe Thuney, but he's playing on the franchise tag and it's hard to imagine a team giving something up for him.

The deadline is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
