FOXBOROUGH -- The first five games of Jonnu Smith's tenure in New England have been rather disappointing.

The 26-year-old has 15 receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown. The 115 yards receiving are 23rd in the entire league among tight ends. Furthermore, he has just 84 yards after the catch, which was supposed to be the strength of his game.

On Thursday, fellow tight end Hunter Henry seemed to indicate things will start to come for Smith.

“He’s going to come on,” Henry said. “I’m excited to see him break out. … He works extremely hard at what he does, so I think he’s going to continue to keep coming.”

Despite not contributing as much as he'd probably like, Henry called Smith's work during the week "fantastic."

“He’s a stud, man,” Henry said. “He’s fun to be around. Works his tail off and there’s a lot of competition in the room. Always trying to compete with each other — against our guys and on the field. I think it’s a healthy room where we’re always trying to better ourselves, communicate better. So those things are continuing to improve.”

This could be a week for Smith to have a solid performance, as Dallas enters the game as one of the worst teams when it comes to defending tight ends.
