J.C. Jackson reportedly signing with Chargers

J.C. Jackson has reportedly found his new team. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jackson has agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Schefter reports that $40 million of that is guaranteed.

Jackson, 26, spent his first four seasons with the Patriots and made his first Pro Bowl this past season. His 17 interceptions over the past two seasons are the most in the NFL during that time.

The Patriots declined to place the $17.3 million franchise tag on Jackson, which could have kept him in New England for another season, allowing him to become a free agent instead.

Jackson instantly became the top cornerback on the market, and now joins a Chargers defense that has already added Khalil Mack via trade, too. The likely No. 2 cornerback on the market, Carlton Davis, is reportedly staying in Tampa Bay.

The Patriots are now without a clear No. 1 cornerback, and will presumably try to find another way to address that position, either in free agency, a trade or the draft.
