FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots have a new backup quarterback.
Brian Hoyer is among those inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos, which means Jarrett Stidham is now the No. 2 quarterback behind Cam Newton. Stidham was inactive for the first three games of the year and then Hoyer started against Kansas City in Week 4 before the second-year player replaced him in the third quarter.
The other Patriots inactives are: Carl Davis, Myles Bryant, J.J. Taylor and Dalton Keene. Keene, a rookie tight end, has yet to be active for a game this season.
Outside linebacker Rashod Berry will make his NFL debut, which is a cool story after he played tight end at Ohio State.
With Davis (acquired this week) inactive, keep an eye on the defensive line, as Lawrence Guy, Adam Butler and Deatrich Wise are the only players active at that spot.
