FOXBOROUGH — Bill Belichick typically doesn't single out players, especially right after games.
But, that wasn't the case following Sunday's 21-11 win over the Dolphins when he praised cornerback JC Jackson, who had an interception in the end zone during the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
Earlier in the game, Jackson ran into punt returner Damiere Byrd causing him to muff the punt, but the cornerback was able to quickly recover the ball. He also had a solid game on defense, allowing just two catches on four targets.
"I would just say that I really take my hat off to JC [Jackson]," Belichick said afterwards. "I thought J.C. really competed well today. He showed a lot of mental toughness and a real competitiveness of the game, and then for him to make that play at the end just sealed the win, along with the run that we had there to get the first down to run out the clock. But the interception that J.C. had in the end zone, I thought he showed a lot of mental toughness and a high level of competitiveness in today's game.
"So, I just wanted to personally congratulate him for that because that was good."
Jackson had one of the three Patriots interceptions in the game, as Stephon Gilmore and Adrian Phillips had the other two.
Led by its secondary, the Patriots defense held Miami to just 182 net passing yards and forced the three turnovers.
