It was a celebration you don't see all that often from an NFL head coach after his team's third-round pick.
Obviously, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked to explain his reaction later during that day of the NFL Draft.
"It was Duvernay," Harbaugh told ESPN. "We were planning that out. We had those three picks there. We kind of had the order and we ended up getting all three guys in line. We got Duvernay, we got (linebacker Malik) Harrison and then we got (offensive tackle Tyre) Phillips with the last pick in the third round. We had ordered it up and we were hoping to get those three guys and we felt like we had to get Devin first in the order. So when the trade was made with New England I had a little concern because Coach Belichick, you know, he's a smart guy and they probably could have used a receiver too. They took a really good tight end. I thought for a second they were going to take him but they didn't, they took the other Devin, Asiasi, the tight end from UCLA, so we got our Devin so I was very fired up about that."
Their "Devin" would sure look good in a Patriots uniform right now.
The Patriots' strategy of trading up to select tight end Devin Asiasi seemed somewhat logical at the time considering the team's need for a pass-catching tight end. But as we sit here, the passing of Devin Duvernay -- the speedy wideout the Ravens took one spot in back of Asiasi -- is another tough pill to swallow.
Asiasi has done very little for the Patriots thus far, still sitting behind Ryan Izzo on the depth chart. He has not only failed to make a single catch, but the former UCLA standout hasn't gotten any targets to date.
Duvernay? He is starting to emerge into a legitimate weapon for Lamar Jackson, potentially becoming the quarterback's third option behind Hollywood Brown and Mark Andrews.
He has 10 catches on 12 targets for 90 yards, while also notching a 42-yard end-around and a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
It's early, but until Asiasi shows something that Harbaugh reaction should continue to sting a little for the Patriots.
