Julian Edelman had knee surgery Oct. 29 and at the time there was some question of whether or not he would return at all this season.
Bill Belichick said he didn't think it would be season-ending, but there were others who had their doubts, especially with the Patriots' record.
But, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss, there's some optimism with the 34-year-old receiver.
"I heard some optimism from those close to receiver Julian Edelman with how his knee has responded since he underwent a precautionary standard knee procedure on Oct. 29," he wrote Sunday. "That optimism is a result of some recent on-field work, in which Edelman was apparently moving well, but the key will be how the knee responds as he continues to stack days together."
Edelman is able to return beginning next Sunday against Houston, so he could potentially be at Wednesday's practice.
While it probably should be considered a long-shot at this point, the fact it's even a possibility seems like a good sign.
