George Kittle is still a believer in Jimmy Garoppolo.
The San Francisco 49ers gave his quarterback quite the endorsement on Tuesday as he was asked questions about the uncertain future that lies ahead for Garoppolo.
“I still believe in Jimmy G,” Kittle said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show. “I think he’s an incredible quarterback. I think he can lead us to another Super Bowl. I think we can win a Super Bowl with him.”
Garoppolo helped lead the Niners to the Super Bowl last year, although his performance in the playoffs – as well as the entire 2019 season – indicated he was more of a game manager than anything.
Garoppolo completed 20 of 31 passes for 219 and a touchdown and two interceptions against in a 31-20 loss to the Chiefs last year.
His future became more in doubt this year after injuries continued to pop up and sideline him.
And while head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch publicly express confidence in the 29-year-old, the team did reportedly inquire with the Lions about a potential trade for Matthew Stafford.
Yet, Kittle explained why Garoppolo should be their guy.
“I can’t even talk enough about his leadership skills on and off the field,” Kittle said. “I feel like I’ve answered this question about 200 times now since I last talked to you guys after last Super Bowl, but I’ll keep dying on the sword because I think Jimmy G’s a fantastic quarterback.
“He’s got an amazing release, got a great arm and a great touch. So I’m happy to have Jimmy G as my quarterback and I know that we can win with him.”
