This seemed like a strong possibility from the moment the Dolphins released him last week, and now it's happening: Linebacker Kyle Van Noy announced on Twitter Wednesday night that he is returning to the Patriots.
"Pats Nation... I'm back. Let's get it," Van Noy says in the video.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, it is a two-year deal for Van Noy that could pay him up to $13.2 million.
Van Noy previously spent four seasons in New England from 2016-19, winning two Super Bowls. He signed a four-year deal with Miami last offseason, but got released on March 10 despite starting 13 games this past season and ranking third on the Dolphins in both tackles and sacks.
Linebacker was a major weakness for the Patriots last season, but Van Noy now joins a retooling that also includes the return of Dont'a Hightower and the signing of edge rusher Matt Judon.
