One of the storylines of the week for the Patriots was how Josh McDaniels will be replaced.

Joe Judge was hired as an offensive assistant and reportedly the team may be done adding coaches.

One player who McDaniels' departure impacts most is Mac Jones, who joined NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry on his Next Pats Podcast Friday at the Super Bowl.

“I’m really happy for Josh and his family," Jones said. "He has a great family and he definitely deserves a shot at this thing and I’m happy for him. He’s going to do a great job. In terms of moving forward, it’s not my first rodeo with dealing with a new coordinator. Alabama, I think back to all the different guys I worked with. We’re going to keep the same system, but new terminology here and there. But, I know Coach Belichick is going to have a plan and I’m looking forward to working, just getting better as a player regardless of who we’re out there with.”

Who would Jones like to see call plays and be the offensive coordinator?

“I have no preferences, honestly," he said. "Like I said, I just leave it up to Coach. He does a good job picking the right people. He’s done that for however many years he’s been a head coach. This is why I am really glad to be with him because he always has a plan, similar to college. We always had a plan for when someone else got hired, brought someone else in, the relationship builds, you earn the trust and then you can keep moving forward.”

The rookie was asked about Judge and Jones did not say much, other than they spoke a little during joint practices with the Giants and he's looking forward to working with him.

Jones was in L.A. this week and was at the NFL Honors night Thursday. He finished second to Ja'Marr Chase for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year.
