When Mac Jones was at Alabama it was learned his girlfriend helped him master the playbook with late-night sessions at a gym going over them.
The Patriots starting quarterback revealed Tuesday on Merloni and Fauria that the same thing is happening in New England and that they have had walkthroughs in their yard.
“She actually does. She does a good job," Jones said. "... She helps me a lot.”
The quarterback noted how he's a visual learner and seeing things helps him retain it.
“I kind of found stuff that works for me," Jones said. "I have learned from a lot of older guys on the team. ‘Hey, how did you do this? How did you learn all these plays?’ It takes a little bit of time. I put in a lot of time when I first got here and every day I stick to my schedule.
"... I am very visual, so that definitely helps. Some people are visual or they learn in different ways, but for me I have always been a very visual learner that [it] helps to see it -- whether it is drawing it, or walking through it or doing it.”
Jones will be the Patriots' starter Sunday when they host the Dolphins.
